I really like your character designs. I always liked the look and feel of Xiaolin Showdown. And also, the 3D work was great too. I enjoyed the acting in Fireside Chat.

Mike I came across your site from a friends link on their site. I love your style and really enjoy your work. I just finished watching one of my fav episodes of P&Brain and you directed it. I am so not worthy! IT was priceless and I think what I enjoy the most is that you have a old fashioned comfortable familiar feel to your work. It make me think of the time I was a kid watching the old great works of Fritz or Chuck Jones. I am just starting into the industry and really enjoy making cartoons 2/3D comic style, and would love to hear if you have any tips or pearls of wisdom for a newbie like me?

  • Mike Milo says:

    Hi Laurie!
Thank you for your kind words! The fact that my work reminds you in some way of Chuck Jones is a great honor. Words of wisdom? Well the best advice I can give you is to save your money because this business has many ups and downs and there will be times when you will not be working so save save save. Also to listen to and take criticism well. Most artists do not. Finally do everything you can to not burn a bridge. They will without a doubt come back to haunt you. One last thing… be nice to the production assistants you come across in your travels. They are your Boss of tomorrow. Good luck!

how do you create and do you have to pay

  • Mike Milo says:

How do I create? I just think things up I guess. I don’t understand the second question. Do I have to pay who for what?

Mike, you have an amazing body…of work displayed here. Your designs and demos are great, and the Ignoramoose short was really well done. Definitely had that Warners, Hanna Barbera feel about it. The soundtrack on the opening shot was classic too. Amazing how instantly that piece of music describes the majesty of nature at sunrise. Beautiful and harmonious. In the distance Ignoramoose begin gently bickering. One agrees to disagree, but the other begs to differ. Sometimes its the Nature of things not to see eye to eye, but none of that matters now. The Ignoramooses survival instincts have kicked in. Antlers at the ready, they square off and charge. The collision echoes like cannon fire through the forest, vaporizing all harmonious feeling within a ten mile radius. The head butt battle, ends in a draw. A Forest Ranger shoots them both in the ass with tranquilizer darts and fits radio tracking collars around their necks. The Ignoramoose awaken, discover the collars and deduce that they’re now domesticated animals. So naturally they hop a train to the city. Instinct! We got our house moose the exact same way. Yay Cartoons! Sweet backgrounds, vibrant color palette. It just reminded me of Foghorn Leghorn, or Tom and Jerry back when they were allowed to be physical (but funny) threats to each other. All kinds of good stuff on this blog, Congrats.

Thanks Kevin! Yeah Ignoramooses is an ooooold cartoon back when we stille editing with film and painting on cells! Oh and those sticks of wood and carbon with the eraser shavings and all. So far we’ve come! I pretty much animated that film as well as designed it and timed it. I even did layout and the storyboard. Harry who you know co-wrote it and did the bgs. Man we had so much fun working on that film. that was a time when we were so full of hope and dreams of success. Before the industry took away a portion of my spirit made me realize I aint the shit if you know what I mean. Thank you very much for taking the time to comment. Many people come to visit but few comment and I truly appreciate it! How you doin’ brother? I hope well!

  • Mike Milo says:

Thanks Stephen, not sure how I missed this comment but thank you so much for your kind words!
