BACKGROUND PAINT

The Background painter’s job is to take the backgrounds generated by the background artist and color them either with the computer or traditional mediums such as paint or water colors. The wrong colors in a background can seriously ruin a film for the simple reason that if your character is blue and the wall he’s standing in front of is blue he may get lost and therefore ruin the scene. Quite often the background painter employs the use of complimentary colors to help the character stand out from the background.

Here are a few examples of some backgrounds from my film Flavio done by the very talented Maurice Morgan.
