The Pencil Test is the filmed version of the animation drawings. Both rough animation and cleaned up animation are filmed. In the old days pencil tests were filmed on huge cameras called Oxberrys and eventually pencil test systems like The Lion and Lamb machine and the Lunch Box came about. These days since the advent of the computer most animation is scanned into the computer.
