VOICE RECORDING
The voice recording step of producing a film involves two steps casting and recording. Casting involves find the right person to sound like what the creators, directors and producers feel represents the character best. Some shows record the voice before the show is storyboarded and some record the soundtrack after the storyboard is recorded. For instance, The Simpsons records the voices before it does either character layout or storyboarding while the show Chowder records the show based on the storyboard. Both are useful in their own ways. Most shows that are creator-driven such as Flapjack, Chowder, Dexter’s Lab, and The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy tend to do a board first and then record voices to match what the storyboard artist was trying to convey. Conversly most script driven shows such as Family Guy, Scooby Doo, Batman, Ben 10 or Drawn Together record the voices first and then have the storyboard artist listen to the actor’s voice and try and match his posing to it.
